2015 HAMCon Poster Competition!

HAM Con 2014 (9)

Hey everyone!

You all remember Hamja, right? Our club and con mascot – well an awesome opportunity has come up for you awesome folk to design her in your own style for our 2015 event! The image will be used to promote HAMCon 2015 as flyers and posters.

So, here’s what you need to know:

  • The image must be A1 as we use it for the gallery event boards.
  • Hamja can be drawn in any style as long as her colours are fairly similar.
  • There’s no theme, so have fun with it.
  • You have until January 5th 2015
  • You do not need to add any information regarding the event – we will add this afterwards.

Entries are submitted to hamjapanuk@gmail.com as jpeg. Once a winner is selected we will ask for the photoshop file for our convenience. A winner will be announced before the end of January.

Q. What do I win?

A. Free table at HAMCon if you are a stallholder (or wish to have one), or free weekend entry to the event!

Q. Can I add my DA to the poster?

A. Sure, as long as it won’t be in the way of any information we’ll be adding.

Q. Can I add my own character?

A. As long as they don’t outshine our girl, sure; we won’t claim any copyright on them either – cause that’s just rude!

Q. Can I change her hair?

A. You can change the style to fit the image, not the colour. Also remember she IS a pig, so the bow ears are important too.

Q. Can I dress her in cosplay eg: SNK or Free?

A. No, we’re avoiding copyright – but fan art like that would be cool! However, she can cosplay your character!

I think that’s everything. Message us if you need any more info!

HAMCon 2015 is a go!

I’ve finally sat down with the rare Vic and we’ve spoken to certain people who know other things about spaces; we’ll be having Crossley gallery and the meeting rooms as normal, as well as the theatre space, what is up in the air is access to E-Mill (where the stalls were held) since booking is now done with a business in that building.

With that in mind, we’re looking at the weekend of the 4th July or the following weekend to keep that spacious feeling we had before. However, until that is sorted I will be limiting stall applications to twenty – that’s all we can fit in Crossley – until further notice, which means first come first serve; prices will most likely stay the same.

Applications forms to follow within the next few days.

E-Mill is actually having renovations done, so if that space is allocated to us it will be bigger than before anyway, and we have plans to mix stalls with a gaming area; it’s early days yet so nobody panic!

Volunteering applications are now online; don’t be afraid of the job titles, they’re just for my benefit more than anything. We’ll be starting a casual interview process after the x-mas holidays, this is to get to know people and select the most dependable volunteers.
